Seattle Sexuality Professionals September Meet-Up

Are you a Sexuality Educator, Counselor, Therapist, or other sexuality-related professional living in Seattle? Do you want to connect with other people in your field, brainstorm future collaborations, or just have a space to collectively decompress?

Join us for this monthly community meet-up!

Details:

  • Who: Sexuality professionals (We welcome all sex workers, sexological body workers, pleasure coaches, educators, therapists, etc.)

  • When: Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 6-8pm

  • Where: Ada's Technical Books & Cafe (425 15th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112)

  • The Cafe at Ada's is open until 8pm for tea/coffee and snacks!

  • Parking is free on the neighborhood streets

  • Ada's is ADA accessible.

Create your own Sex Zine

Do you have a sexuality-related topic that you’d like to explore? Want to doodle, draw, write, and play?

We are offering a creative space to process and celebrate sex and sexuality. We invite you to make a zine and take part in a collective movement to destigmatize sex!

What can you get out of this workshop?

  • Learn how to make a zine.

  • Create a work of art/literature that has personal significance.

  • Create a zine that you’re excited to share with others in your community.

  • Access creativity around topics of sex and sexuality.

  • Connect with and learn from other sex positive folks.

  • Have fun!

What to expect?

  • An introduction to zine making in a sex-positive space.

  • Some time to look at example zines, reflect, and free-write.

  • A full hour of creative time!

  • Time at the end to share your zines if desired.

  • We will also have some zines by a sex educator & abortion/grief doula for sale! Check out Lucy’s work here.

  • All necessary materials provided, but feel free to bring your own crafty supplies you’d like!

  • Date: Monday, August 14, 2023

  • Time: 7-9pm

  • Location: Made Space Seattle, a Black-owned community event venue located in Seattle’s Central District: 2002 E Union St, Seattle, WA 98122

  • Cost: $20-$30 (sliding scale). We appreciate the $25 ticket, but please choose the ticket price that is best for you and your circumstances.

  • Accessibility: Made Space is ADA accessible through the back door. This event encourages hand-written activities, but folks are welcome to bring tools that make art/writing more accessible to them. Any instruction manuals and templates provided will use accessible fonts in 12pt or larger.

About the Facilitators:

Naomi Price-Lazarus (she/her) is a sexuality educator, event facilitator, and dance party host. Naomi is the Founder of Papaya Project, Seattle-based non-profit organization that offers comprehensive sexuality education and community building events to youth and adults. With a queer-centered and pleasure-focused approach, Papaya Project aims to destigmatize and expand understandings of identity, sexuality, bodily autonomy, and pleasure. Naomi also creates and sells art that celebrates sexual anatomy and pleasure (@Super_Clit). Naomi spends her free time playing sports, baking cookies, and traveling around the world.

Shani Redlich (she/her) is a sex educator and a Holistic Sex Educator Certificate candidate at the Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment, an approved Organizational Provider of CE’s by American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). She is also studying to become a Couple and Family Therapist and Sex Therapist at Antioch University Seattle. Shani has worked directly with high school students in the U.S., designing and delivering comprehensive sex education, and uses guiding frameworks of reproductive justice, disability justice and anti-racism to inform her work. She is passionate about facilitating discussions around sex and sexuality in ways that are curiosity-driven, multiculturally-responsive, and trauma-informed, and occasionally shares information via her Instagram account @shamefreecse.
